The Love Dare, by Stephen & Alex Kendrick, is an amazing book that “dares” you to love your spouse unconditionally!

Did you see the movie Fireproof? If you did, this is the “40-day Love Dare” that was given to Caleb by his dad to challenge him to love his wife unconditionally. Caleb and his wife were headed for divorce court, but Caleb chose to accept the challenge his dad

gave him and chose to love his wife even when she wasn’t ready to reciprocate yet. If you haven’t watched the movie, it really is a great example of how God can heal a marriage that may look and feel like it is dead!

In The Love Dare, each day you will read about different aspects of love. You will then be given a “dare” that relates to what you read and will help you to show love to your spouse. There is journal space given to answer questions you may be asked about the results of your “dare” that day. Make sure you date your journal when you do each dare. This is a book that you can go back to again and again when you need some guidance. It was interesting for me to look back at this book and see what I had written the first time I went through the book, which was in 2008.

The Love Dare will help you to better understand what it really means to love your spouse unconditionally as God loves you. You will realize that we are all much more selfish than we may think we are. I don’t like to think of myself as being selfish, but after reading this book, I saw some areas that I definitely need to work on.

In marriage it is very important to spend as much time getting to know each other as you can so that you know how to love each other. When you are going through this love dare you are intentionally spending time each day thinking about your spouse and your marriage and you are doing something each day to show your love to your spouse. You can’t help but to love them more just because you are learning things that you may have never learned or that you knew, but had not really been putting that knowledge into action.
